Happy Hmong New Year
Hello everyone!! I'm currently attending the Hmong New Year celebration here in Minnesota. It's a celebration every year after the day of Thanksgiving and it goes for 3 days long. It's not just within the Hmong community everyone can join and enjoy the Hmong food, dance, music, etc. Learn more about it here, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hmong_customs_and_culture. This is my outfit that I wore to the New Year. It's more of a modern look than compare to the old fashion styles. What I like about this outfit is the collar part. It has an round peter pan collar twist to it and makes the dress look more vintage-like. On a side note, the necklace piece that I am wearing is fake silver. Lets just say, "thank goodness it's fake" because if you were to wear the real silver piece it's really heavy (I mean seriously REALLY HEAVY) to the point where it can make your neck sore for a few days. I wore the real piece a few times before and I remember my neck & shoulder were so sore afterwards but it's up to you. Some people prefer to wear the real necklace piece which is fine too as long as you can bear the pain.
